Carlyn and Spencer officially met in the 9th grade when Carlyn transferred to Vanguard College Preparatory School in Waco, Texas. Throughout high school, Spencer and Carlyn became close friends and study buddies. During their senior year, they entered a short term relationship - starting what neither knew would be a large journey for the both of them. They attended prom, corrigan, and even a class trip to London together - creating some of their favorite memories . As graduation grew close and college decisions were yet to be made, it was decided to finish the remainder of their high school careers as friends.

As fate would have it Spencer and Carlyn both attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Although Carlyn and Spencer spent the initial chapters of their college careers as friends, they continued to run into each other. In addition to finding mutual friends, they happened to both be assigned to the same dorm building, being only a floor apart. They began to spend more time together again until classes were shut down and all students were sent home due to the pandemic. Luckily, since they were both from Waco, spending time with each other was not an issue! Out of all the negative the pandemic brought, they often say Covid is what ultimately brought them back together.
